What’s on for Families in Ayrshire over the next few weeks

Hello my friends,

It’s been a reeeeally long time since I’ve written anything in here. Life, and demanding toddlers kind of get in the way (ha) but I’m hoping to be back writing more in the blog because I do miss it lots.

I was chatting to a good friend of mine this week, who also happens to be a mum in Ayr. We were discussing what events are coming up in Ayrshire over the next little while to keep our small people entertained and so I’ve decided to pop a little round up of my findings. I have hand picked the ones that I think will be a good day out for families in Ayrshire.

So if anyone in my neck of the woods is looking for some inspiration over the bank holiday weekend and over the next couple of weeks for Families then I hope this will be of use to you!

For the FairyTale lovers

I spotted 2 good events this weekend…

Kelburn estate in Largs is running a fairy tail Forrest from 21-23rd September with lots of fun games for the kids and characters to interact with. There are various times available for the Never Never Forrest trail so make sure you book your time slot online.

Prices are-

Adults – £9.50 Children- £8.50

And for more fairytale fun, visit The Farm Park at heads of Ayr on the Saturday and take part in the fairy trail. You can also meet a unicorn and baby dragons which had me sold to be honest!

Prices are-

Adult – £12

Child/OAP/Concession/Carer – £10.50

Family Ticket – 5 people (max. 2 adults) – £49.50

Under 2’s – free

A Pirate Life’s for me!

My sis and I took a trip to Irvine to the Scottish Maritime museum recently and the lovely staff gave us a heads up to come back with the kids this weekend.

There’s a full 2 days (Sat 21st and Sunday 22nd) of Pirate themed fun happening with dress ups, treasure hunts, face painting, bouncy castles and more.

Event is running on both days from 11am – 4pm.

Prices-

Adults- £8.50

Children under 16 are free

For the kids and the big kids

The Citadel Leisure centre in Ayr are hosting the Model Railway Show this weekend on 21st/22nd September and I know for a fact that my “choo choo train” obsessed toddler would be in his element at this.

Details here-

A weekend of Food and Crafting in Newmilns

This weekend Newmilns will be buzzing with lots to offer the whole family, and I hear the weather is to be good in Ayrshire so it’s a bonus for outdoor events.

The newmilns food festival is back for a forth year and I hear there’s lots more traders coming along to make it bigger and better than previous years.

Times as above and free to attend!

A lightshow not to be missed

Yup, Illuminite (sponsored by Lidl) is back at Dean Park in Kilmarnock again for its 3rd year I believe from Wednesday 23 October to Sunday 17 November. We were there last year and were blown away. We were lucky with the weather mind you, but I honestly can’t recommend this night enough. The kids will love the trail which didn’t last too long and there’s new things to see at every corner. This year I believe they have added a special intergalactic light experience and space show. Food trucks and mallow toasting too, so wrap up warm and enjoy a night for all the family.

Prices-

Adults- £12.50

Children- £6.50

Saddle up partner

The guys who brought you the Singing Kettle are coming to Troon Concert Hall on Sunday 20th October for “Fun Box present The Wild West Show”

Show time is at 2pm and if you’re heading along, make it more fun and bring the little ones dressed up !

Prices are all £14 or a family ticket for £50

Thanks for reading guys!
